How Was YOUR Weekend?

Happy Monday! I'm pleased to say we didn't lose power, surprisingly enough, even though it rained the entire weekend. Today the sun is out and it's just gorgeous outside.

Our weekend was really busy but the highlight was on Saturday. My son, David, is a terrific musician. He attends a high school that is ranked as having one of the top jazz programs in the country and we attend jazz festivals (competitions) regularly like some people do with athletics.
Saturday was the Folsom Jazz Festival, which is one of the larger ones with schools from several western states competing. Our high school happens to have three jazz bands at three different levels. David is in the highest band (AAAA). I'm so proud to say our band took first place in their division! Woohoo, go Rio! It's a big thrill to see these kids who are so passionate about music and the arts - gives me hope for the future!

I made a layout of the Folsom Jazz Fest event, but the photos in the theatre are dark and too far away from the subject, so I plopped another photo of David with his trumpet on this page. I used my friend Kim Broedelet's (KimB Designs) All That Jazz kit - an awesome kit that you must check out if you haven't seen it!

I also want to let you know that DSO has brought a new designer, Tina Sudweeks, on board! Tina has her first kit, Ornamental Christmas, available in the store and it's a bargain at 30% off right now, so check it out!

Don't forget to join us tonight at the DSO Scrap 'N Chat - see details in the post below this.

Also, there are only 4 days left to get this pretty posting gift in the My SAS-y Self Challenge. After that, we're moving on to a new topic and new posting bonus.

I want to show you these lovely layouts made by Oase and Marilyn, two of my Creative Team members, using my So Sweet kit - the one I'm giving away for FREE right here on my blog through the end of February! :) Aren't these layouts lovely?

Remember to come back on Wednesday and you'll be given the download link to Part 2.

Free So Sweet QP

Have I mentioned how awesome my CT is? These gals are just wonderful. I have some sample LOs to show you with what they've done with my So Sweet kit and I'll get those posted tomorrow morning, but I did want to get this QP out to you tonight.

Shel has created this QP to share with all of you using my So Sweet kit. This is a 12x12" .png file, so all you need to do is insert your photo underneath the QP layer, get it positioned, add a title and some journaling if you like, and wa-lah, you're done! Isn't it the cutest? Thanks so much for sharing, Shel!

So Sweet - Part 1

We've had so much rain in a short period of time here in central Calfornia. Already we're at something like 110% of average rainfall, and we're still in January. So I'm driving home from dropping the youngest boy off at school and hear on the radio that there's another huge storm over the Sierra, which translates to us in the the valley being in store for a really-yucky-weather weekend. Mostly, it's a pain because we lose power. No exceptions. In fact, I don't know what's the deal with my side of our street, but we lose power very easily, and our across-the-street neighbors rarely lose theirs. We're definitely on the wrong side of the grid.

During the bad storm a couple of weeks ago (60-70 mph winds, and that's hurricane strength!) we lost power for over 24 hours and the worst part was we had a house full of teenagers staying with us. Three of our boys were home (one was with his dad), plus my nephew was here, and one of the boys' girlfriends was staying here (separate bedrooms, of course), and their friends from New York and Northern California completed the crowd. On top of that, a couple of them were really sick and we found out later they had strep throat. No ability to cook food and I was like a maniac, forbidding anyone to even open the fridge and freezer (to keep the cold in) so that the food wouldn't thaw and spoil. So hubby took down requests, and made a Subway Sandwiches run, bless his heart. Even driving in that storm was bad because our street was like an obstacle course, with trees and fences down everywhere.
Hubby gets home and after we eat decided he wants to play Boggle with me. He says, "Even though I know you'll win..."

So of course I say, "Well, duuuuuhh... but if you're up to the abuse, I'll give it to you!" We played and of course I kicked his tush. That'll teach him. (I should have probably been a little more merciful with the guy who just braved the rain and winds so we could eat, but oh well...)

Anyhow, I'm posting the link to Part 1 of So Sweet mostly because I'm worried about losing power again and I promised to have it out on Saturday. Take a look:

Please remember - sharing is nice in nearly all ways EXCEPT for sharing digital items, even freebies! (It's called piracy - right there in the name - no good!) Just send your friends to my blog to download and they can grab the linky right here! Download here.

Okay, I'm off to toast a bagel before the electricity goes bye-bye...

Here's What's In Store...

I was going to wait until Saturday but I'm pretty excited and, well, I don't want to wait for this announcement. I want to give you a glimpse of what's to come. To celebrate my new blog home, I'm giving away an entire brand-new kit, So Sweet. This kit is huge - 30 papers and 35 elements, and the colors are really pretty, if I do say so myself. :)

I will be posting a few papers and elements from this kit on Saturdays and Wednesdays, from now through the end of February. (Please note, I'm on Pacific Time in California and that's nearly an entire day behind some of you, especially you Aussies, so please be patient if it's not up immediately in your time zone. It will be posted, I promise!) I will also leave the downlinks available until the end of February for those who may discover this giveaway mid-month. At the end of February, you'll have an entire brand new kit - for FREE! Doesn't that sound like fun?

I recommend you subscribe to this blog (see sidebar on the right) so you get a reminder delivered right to you and you won't miss a thing.

Here are a couple of previews of the kit:

First download link will be posted this Saturday, January 26.
Here's a sample layout made using this kit. The photo is of my sweet in-laws.

Oh Yeah!

Woohoo! I finally decided to revamp my blog (just moved over from another host) and can't wait to get busy posting. I want to give you a free Quick Page that coordinates with my Today kit, available in either of my stores.

Please, no hotlinking - and file sharing (even for freebies) is NOT okay! Send people over to my blog for the download link. And feel free to leave a comment or two - those really make my day!

CLICK HERE for the download link.

Here's a preview of the coordinating kit:

This is just to get us going - I'd really love to hear from you, my readers, and get to know you better. And, if you have any suggestions or are looking for something in particular as far as a themed kit goes, please just let me know and we'll see how much damage I can do, LOL!

OH!! I almost forgot - COME BACK on Saturday when I have my official "Grand Opening" of this blog - I have something big in store for you!
